1894, Coventry needed power. In 1895 the first Power Station in Coventry began serving the community. The switch on was just the start. The Power Station became the crucial factor in a growing community and rapidly expanded to supply surrounding factories including famous names like Daimler, Standard and Coventry Eagle. The massive turbines generated megawatts for local consumption and were fuelled by coal from local pits, shipped via the canal a neat arrangement all-round. Now Electric Wharf is revived, retaining the best of the Victorian architecture to create stunning spaces, this time buzzing with the life of creative industries and the power of new technology.
